Did you know that the literacy program at the Oak View Branch Library site began in November 1993? For 30 years, volunteer tutors have been working with hundreds of adults and families in Huntington Beach to improve their literacy and English language skills. These strengthened skills lead to adult learners being able to fill out forms, read to their children, apply for better jobs, and get involved with the community. Literacy participants, the Literacy Board, and staff marked this 30th anniversary early at Celebration Night in August. If you missed the event, here are a few pictures.
